About Us

We began bottling the now-famous Pietro Dressings in 1981 in Japan, thanks to an overwhelming response from patrons for the signature salad dressing served at the Angelo Pietro Pasta Restaurant.

It began as a humble sideline to the pasta business for Pietro Founder Kunihiko Murata. “We cook our pastas to order and that takes about 10 minutes,” said Mr. Murata. “To keep our patrons happy, we created the idea of an Italian vinaigrette with Japanese flavors to accompany a small salad and vegetables as a start. Customers loved it, but most importantly, children loved it.” As the story goes, parents noticed that children would eat their salads and vegetables – but only with Pietro’s special dressing.

After repeated requests from parents for dressing to take home to their families, Mr. Murata began filling his empty wine bottles with salad dressing and soon realized that he had a hit on his hands.

Pietro Dressings are successful because they harmoniously combine Japanese flavors with traditional Italian vinaigrettes. In fact, Pietro Dressings sell over 17 million bottles per year in Japan and is considered to be one of the most famous salad dressings in the country. The Pietro Dressings, now made and available in the USA, continues to produce the same flavor and home-style tradition that brought it success in Japan — preparing the dressings in small batches using only the finest ingredients.

Pietro Dressings contain no cholesterol, MSG or preservatives – just a delightful blend of Gluten-free & Vegetarian-Friendly ingredients.
